Nasty
Electro-based Stamina-Rap with Femme/Queercentric content. The set is
laced with mini bursts of recognizable hip-hop instrumentals I really
dig.
What was the first music
you remember using your own money to buy?
No Doubt's Tragic
Kingdom, of course.
What has been your
favorite album of 2013 so far?
James Blake's Overgrown is
fantastic..
Do you have any advice for new bands?
"It gets

Have you planned out who you want to see
at UMS this year? Who are some of your highlights?
I'm committing to
falling in love with at least 3 bands I've never heard, and supporting ones
that I'd like to see succeed.

would you use to describe it?

memorable experience at UMS to date?
Possibly watching Big
Freedia rock people's worlds in so many ways last year on the main stage.
Any tips you'd like to give the novices for making
the UMS experience even better?
Find a house in Baker
inhabited by people you love and let them know you may be sleeping on their
couch or in their kiddy pool for the weekend.

looking forward to eating during UMS?

What is your favorite shop
on South Broadway?
Ironwood, Fancy

Who is your all time
favorite Colorado band?
Harpoontang.
You're working the counter at Twist & Shout, and a
customer is interested in expanding his music collection. What three
albums would you recommend?
Mykki Blanco's
"Cosmic Angel/Illuminati Princ(ess)" will teach you what you need to
know about talented and bossy queers. oOoOO's "Our Love is Hurting
Us" is textural and sexy. (Sextural). Larkin Grimm's "Parplar"
is a hidden gem out of Brooklyn, who has a haunting Appalachian howl and her
lyrics scrape the darker belly of New Age thought.
Is there anything we forgot to ask you about
the UMS that you think people need to know?
You might see me peddling
sweet and savory popsicles up n down that street. Kitty Crimes Thursday at 9PM

We
eat the pig, then together we burn. BURN!
What was the first music you remember using your own money to buy?
I
put money in a jukebox to play "Street Fighting Man" by The Rolling
Stones. G-7.

has been your favorite album of 2013 so far?

you have any advice for new bands?
There's
two types of people in this world: Those who get stomped on and those who do
the stomping.

out who you want to see at UMS this year? Who are some of your highlights?
I
loved Don Giovanni: The Opera. A little unorthodox but the most daring
portrayal of Don Giovanni I've ever seen.
If you've been to
UMS before, what three words would you use to describe it?
Who's.
That. Dude?
What
has been your most memorable experience at UMS to date?
This
one time there was a rowdy show and I was punching one guy, I was kicking
another. I threw one guy through a plate glass window. Well, THAT,
but the exact opposite.
Any tips you'd like
to give the novices for making the UMS experience even better?
Don't
bet against Rocky when he's fighting Mr. T. Hindsight is twenty-twenty my
friend. Oh, and watch out for Ole Jack. He's an odd duck.

The
Ghost of Joseph Buck will be playing at
Gary
Lee’s Motor Pub and Grub at 10:00 p.m. on July 18th.
In twenty-five words or less, describe what somebody who has never heard of your band might expect from your performance at UMS this year.
It’ll
be like a wayward journey from the Great Plains through the dusty Southwest all
the way to the border of Mexico.

Power – Sun. Yes, it came out in Sept. 2012 but can’t stop listening to it.

Ark Life, Lord Huron, and Mosey West will be on the list
for sure. Wow – it’s so overwhelming. We still need time to digest the line-up.

Eclectic.
Eye-opening. Inspiring.

Han at the South Broadway Church in 2012 was pretty awesome in the true sense
of the word.

Make a schedule
of what you want to see, don't be afraid to watch half sets, don't be sad when
you run into someone you know and miss something because you're chatting on the
sidewalk.

We're playing on Thursday
July 18, but we don't know exactly what time or where yet!
In twenty-five words or less, describe what somebody who
has never heard of your band might expect from your performance at UMS this
year.
A vocalist/bassist who
sounds like a cross between Blondie and Natalie Merchant. Songs that feel like
Florence + the Machine and Miike Snow.
What was the first music
you remember using your own money to buy?
This is a embarrassing, but
I remember my mom driving me to the local record store to buy a cassette tape
of Beauty and the Beat by the Go-Go's. I must have been 11 or so. My first
record was Abracadabra by the Steve Miller Band. My first CD was way less
embarrassing; Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.
What has been your favorite
album of 2013 so far?
Haim's "Falling"
EP. If you haven't checked out these three sisters from LA, you have to. I am
in love with them.
Do you have any advice
for new bands?
I could write tons, but I'll
keep it to this: Build slowly and steadily, expect it to be hard, enjoy the
successes and learn from the failures, and be in it for the right reasons and
for the long haul.
Have you planned out who you want to see at UMS this year?
Who are some of your highlights?
Some of the artists I want
to see are Andy Sydow, Flashbulb Fires, Genetic Engines, Hi-Strung, Option4,
Petals of Spain… it goes on and on. It's hard to choose! There are lots of
bands I've already seen who I'd love to see again, like A Tom Collins, Bop
Skizzum, the Chimney Choir, Monroe Monroe, Post Paradise, Rachel and the Kings,
Roniit, and many others, but I also really like checking out bands I haven't
seen before!
If you've been to UMS before, what three words would you
use to describe it?
I haven't, unfortunately. I
am in the process of moving from Boulder to Denver to be closer to the bigger
music scene Denver has to offer. But for the past decade, living in Boulder and
teaching voice lessons there almost every day has made it hard to get out to
see as much live music as I'd like.
Who is your all time
favorite Colorado band?
I think it has to be
OneRepublic.

would you recommend?
Anything by Roniit, The
Chimney Choir, or Flashlights. All for very different reasons.
